Stan Bahnsen, who lost his only previous decision to the Yankees last season, beat his former teammates, 8-4, with the help of a White Sox attack that included homers by Eddie Leon, Bill Melton and Carlos May. Leon's homer followed a double by Mike Andrews in the second inning.

After the Yankees tied the score, the White Sox broke the game open with a five-run outburst in the fourth. Melton led off with his circuit clout and the other tallies counted on four singles, one of them for an RBI by Leon, plus a walk, passed ball and error. May wound up the White Sox scoring with a homer in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
