Starting with a homer by Larry Hisle, the Twins scored five runs in the third inning and defeated the Red Sox, 6-4. Following Hisle's homer, the Twins put together a walk to Rod Carew, successive singles by Tony Oliva, Bobby Darwin, Steve Braun and Danny Thompson and an infield out by Phil Roof for four more runs.
