. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Coming from behind, the Padres defeated the Pirates, 7-5, for their first road victory of the season after losing six previous games in rival parks. The Pirates took a 4-0 lead in the first inning before the Padres narrowed the gap with a homer by Leron Lee in the fourth and two runs on a triple by Fred Kendall and singles by Dave Campbell and Derrel Thomas around an error by Bob Moose in the fifth. Willie Stargell smashed a homer in the Pirates' half to make it 5-3.

The Padres rallied to win with four runs in the eighth. A walk and singles by Lee and Nate Colbert kayoed Moose. Cito Gaston singled off Dave Giusti to drive in the tying tally. Kendall followed with a run-scoring single to send the Padres ahead and Dave Hilton added the clinching tally with another single. [The Sporting News]
