Working with two days rest, Wilbur Wood allowed only five hits and pitched the White Sox to a 3-0 victory over the Yankees. Carlos May homered off Mel Stottlemyre in the first inning to give Wood the only run that he needed, but the White Sox gave their veteran knuckleballer some extra margin with RBI singles by Ed Herrmann in the fourth and Ken Henderson in the eighth.
