Rusty Staub snapped a 1-for-29 slump with two homers and a single to help the Mets defeat the Astros, 5-2. Staub homered in the second inning and again in the fifth. In between, the Mets scored three runs in the third on singles by Bud Harrelson and Felix Millan, a double by by John Milner and single by George Theodore. Doug Rader hit a homer for the Astros.
