After rallying for three runs to tie the score in the eighth inning, the Astros defeated the Expos, 6-5, on a pinch-single by Jimmy Stewart in the 10th. Ken Singleton hit a two-run homer to help the Expos take a 5-2 lead before the Astros pulled even in the eighth with the aid of singles by Bob Gallagher, Jim Wynn, Bob Watson and Lee May. In the 10th, Wynn walked, stole second, continued to third when catcher John Boccabella's throw went into center field and scored on Stewart's hit.
