. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Rusty Staub hit a grand-slam homer for the Mets in the first inning, but the Reds came back with a six-run rally in the fourth to gain a 6-5 victory. Singles by Joe Morgan and Johnny Bench, a double by Tony Perez and single by Bobby Tolan accounted for the Reds' first two runs. The third scored when Dave Concepcion grounded into a double play. Richie Scheinblum and Denis Menke kept the rally going with singles.

When the Reds sent up Bill Plummer to pinch-hit for Jim McGlothlin, the Mets took out Jon Matlack and called on Hank Webb. Larry Stahl then batted for Plummer and hit Webb's first pitch for a three-run homer. [The Sporting News]
