Although rapped for 12 hits, Wilbur Wood was able to gain his seventh straight victory when the White Sox scored in the 12th inning to defeat the Angels, 4-3. Bill Singer pitched the first 11 frames for the Angels and allowed only three hits, but walks helped the White Sox count their first three runs.

Ron Perranoski replaced Singer in the 12th and passed Jorge Orta. Luis Alvarado sacrificed and Pat Kelly drove in a run with a single. Terry Forster finished up for Wood, retiring the Angels in their half of the 12th to record his seventh save. [The Sporting News]
