The Red Sox rallied to overcome a three-run deficit and defeated the Indians, 4-3. Dick Tidrow, who started for the Indians, allowed only three hits before being lifted in the seventh inning when the Red Sox scored their first run on a pass to Luis Aparicio and singles by Carl Yastrzemski and Carlton Fisk.

With Jerry Johnson on the mound in the eighth, Doug Griffin doubled, John Kennedy walked and, after a sacrifice, singles by Aparicio and Yastrzemski produced the tying tallies. Orlando Cepeda then grounded to Buddy Bell and when the third baseman made a bad throw, Aparicio scored the deciding run. [The Sporting News]
