A throwing error by Davey Lopes with the bases loaded in the ninth inning allowed Bobby Bonds to score and gave the Giants a 5-4 victory over the Dodgers. Bonds doubled and moved to third on a sacrifice by Tito Fuentes. The Dodgers walked Chris Speier and Willie McCovey intentionally to load the bases. Ed Goodson then grounded to Lopes, who threw wildly to second, trying to start a double play that would have ended the inning. [The Sporting News]
