The streaking Royals got four-hit pitching from Paul Splittorff and beat the Twins, 4-2. Cookie Rojas was the standout at bat with two doubles and a single, driving in three runs. The Royals picked up their initial pair in the fourth inning when Amos Otis and Ed Kirkpatrick singled and Rojas sent them home with a double. A walk to John Mayberry and singles by Kirkpatrick, Rojas and Bobby Floyd added the other runs in the sixth. Phil Roof hit two doubles for the Twins, scoring one run and driving in another.
