After giving up six hits in the first two innings, Bert Blyleven allowed only one the rest of the way and came out a winner when the Twins smashed three homers to beat the Rangers, 9-5. Three of the Rangers' runs were unearned. The Twins got their first homer from Danny Thompson when they tied the score at 5-5 in the sixth. Harmon Killebrew broke the deadlock with a round-tripper in the seventh and Rod Carew iced the verdict by hitting for the circuit with two aboard in the eighth.
