Snapping their six-game losing streak, the Pirates scored a run on a bases-loaded single by Dave Cash in the 11th inning to defeat the Expos, 9-8. Bob Robertson drew a pass to open the stanza and, after one out, Gene Alley singled and Dave Giusti walked to set the stage for Cash's single. The Expos, who scored five runs in the sixth, held an 8-4 lead before the Pirates rallied to tie the score in the eighth on a triple by Alley and singles by Gene Clines, Cash, Richie Hebner, Manny Sanguillen and Al Oliver.
