. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Cubs handed Jerry Koosman his first defeat of the season and extended their winning streak to seven games with a 4-3 victory over the Mets. Rick Monday singled and Billy Williams homered for two runs off Koosman in the first inning. Ron Santo doubled in the fourth and scored when Jim Hickman singled. Hickman took second on the throw to the plate and counted what proved to be the winning run when Bud Harrelson threw wildly on a grounder by Burt Hooton. [The Sporting News]
