The Cardinals greeted the arrival of Darrell Brandon in relief by erupting for four runs in the eighth inning to defeat the Phillies, 8-4. Mike Tyson led off with a single, Rick Wise bunted and both runners were safe on a fielder's choice. Lou Brock also bunted and beat it out for a hit to fill the bases. Jose Cruz walked to force in a run, breaking the 4-4 tie. Joe Torre followed with a single, driving in two runs, and Ted Simmons finished the scoring with another single. [The Sporting News]
