The Tigers defeated the Red Sox for the seventh straight time this season, posting a 5-4 victory with the aid of homers by Mickey Stanley and Jim Northrup. Stanley broke a 3-3 tie with a smash in the sixth inning and Northrup provided what proved to be the winning run with his round-tripper in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
