The Astros scored twice in the first inning and Don Wilson made those runs stand up for a 2-1 victory over the Giants. Back-to-back triples by Jim Wynn and Roger Metzger and a sacrifice fly by Bob Watson produced the Astros' markers. The Giants got their lone run on a homer by Gary Matthews in the fourth.
