. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Coming off the ropes, Gaylord Perry avoided a knockout in the second inning and pitched the Indians to a 10-5 victory over the Yankees. Perry was tagged for four runs on five hits in his shaky stanza, including a two-run triple by Gene Michael. The only Yankee run thereafter came on a homer by Thurman Munson in the fourth.

Buddy Bell, Charlie Spikes, Dave Duncan and George Hendrick drove in two runs apiece for the Indians. Bell had four hits. Hendrick homered with a man on base in the third to snap a 4-4 tie. [The Sporting News]
