. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Continuing to have his troubles, Steve Carlton was knocked out in the seventh inning as the Phillies lost to the Pirates, 5-4. However, Mac Scarce was the loser in relief when the Pirates scored in the ninth on a single by Gene Alley, sacrifice by Milt May and single by Richie Zisk, who batted for Steve Blass.

The Phillies took a 4-0 lead with the aid of a two-run homer by Greg Luzinski, but Willie Stargell homered for the Pirates in the fourth, Blass drove in a run with a single in the fifth and Manny Sanguillen tied the score with a two-run homer in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
