Led by Chris Speier, who drove in four runs, the Giants salvaged the finale of their four-game series with the Astros by posting a 9-4 victory. Speier tripled to account for two of the Giants' four runs in the first inning. Garry Maddox led off the seventh with a homer and, after Gary Matthews singled, Speier also hit for the circuit. Ed Goodson added a round-tripper in the ninth. Jim Wynn hit a homer for the Astros.
