Five of the 10 walks issued by Expos' pitchers helped the Cubs gain a 4-2 victory in 10 innings. After the Expos took a 2-0 lead, Gene Hiser walked for the Cubs in the seventh and Glenn Beckert singled. Billy Williams and Jim Hickman walked to force in one run and Ron Santo singled to drive in the tying tally.

In the 10th, Hickman and Santo drew passes. Jose Cardenal bunted and was safe on an error by Tom Walker. Ken Rudolph singled to drive in Hickman. Don Kessinger followed with a sacrifice fly to score Santo with an extra run. [The Sporting News]
