Rick Reuschel and Bob Locker combined on a four-hitter and pitched the Cubs to a 7-2 victory over the Reds. Reuschel developed a blister on the index finger of his pitching hand and left the game after giving up the Reds' first run in the fifth inning. Johnny Bench homered off Locker in the eighth.

Ron Santo hit two doubles and drove in a pair of runs for the Cubs. Don Kessinger also accounted for two RBIs with a single and Jose Cardenal contributed a homer to the Cubs' attack. [The Sporting News]
