Willie Crawford ended a 20-inning scoring drouth by the Dodgers with the first grand-slam homer of his major league career to lead the way to a 6-4 victory over the Mets before a Cap Night crowd of 53,825. An error by Bud Harrelson and singles by Manny Mota and Ron Cey loaded the bases for Crawford's clout in the fifth inning to wipe out the Mets' 3-0 lead. The Dodgers added what proved to be the deciding run in the sixth on a double by Bill Buckner, passed ball and sacrifice fly by Joe Ferguson. Mota drove in an extra run with a single in the eighth.
