. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Bob Gibson squared his career record against the Braves at 19-19 by pitching the Cardinals to a 2-0 victory in a game stopped by rain after 7½ innings. The Dodgers, with a 20-16 record against Gibson, now are the only club with an edge over the veteran righthander.

The Cardinals, winning their fourth straight game, got their first run against the Braves in the fifth on a double by Ken Reitz, infield hit by Mike Tyson and a wild pitch by Phil Niekro. Singles by Ted Sizemore, Tim McCarver and Jose Cruz added the other tally in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
