The Indians and White Sox battled to a 2-2 tie in a four-hour, 39-minute game suspended after 16 innings because of the A. L.'s 1 a.m. (local time) curfew. The action was delayed at one point for 17 minutes by rain.

The White Sox started the scoring in the fifth on a safe bunt by Jorge Orta, wild throw by Buddy Bell and single by Eddie Leon. The Indians pulled even in the seventh when John Lowenstein doubled and Dave Duncan singled. Then the Indians went ahead in the eighth with a single by Tom Ragland and double by Frank Duffy, but Bill Melton tied the score with a homer in the White Sox' half. The game was completed on May 28.
