Don Sutton helped himself by driving in one run with a sacrifice fly and Joe Ferguson accounted for another run with a homer to enable the Dodgers to defeat the Mets, 2-1. Ron Cey doubled in the second inning and Willie Crawford and Bill Russell walked to load the bases before Sutton delivered his run-scoring fly off Jerry Koosman. After Ferguson hit for the circuit in the fifth, pinch-hitter Ken Boswell spoiled Sutton's shutout bid with a homer for the Mets in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
