The Rangers erupted for four runs in the fourth inning on doubles by Jim Spencer and Dave Nelson and ended their eight-game losing streak by defeating the Yankees, 5-2. Alex Johnson and Larry Biittner, who singled, scored on Spencer's double. Two outs later, after Jim Mason was safe on an error, Nelson hit his double.
