Pete Broberg gained his first victory since last June 13, after losing his last eight decisions in 1972 and first four this year, when the Rangers defeated the Indians, 3-2. With the score tied, 2-2, Ken Suarez singled with one out in the ninth inning. Joe Lovitto, coming in to run, stopped at second on a single by Jim Mason. Jerry Johnson relieved Gaylord Perry and on his first pitch, Dave Nelson singled to score Lovitto with the Rangers' winning run. [The Sporting News]
