. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Pete Broberg gained his first victory since last June 13, after losing his last eight decisions in 1972 and first four this year, when the Rangers defeated the Indians, 3-2. With the score tied, 2-2, Ken Suarez singled with one out in the ninth inning. Joe Lovitto, coming in to run, stopped at second on a single by Jim Mason. Jerry Johnson relieved Gaylord Perry and on his first pitch, Dave Nelson singled to score Lovitto with the Rangers' winning run. [The Sporting News]
