Carlton Fisk hit a two-run homer and Rico Petrocelli added a solo swat in support of Marty Pattin, who pitched the Red Sox to a 6-2 victory over the Athletics. Sal Bando homered for the A's in the first inning, but the Red Sox came back with three runs in their half, two on Fisk's smash and the other on a walk to Orlando Cepeda, double by Petrocelli and single by Danny Cater. Angel Mangual homered for the A's other run in the second, but Petrocelli matched it with his drive for the Red Sox. [The Sporting News]
