Tommy Davis drove in three runs with a pair of singles and Al Bumbry accounted for two with a triple as the Orioles defeated the Rangers, 8-3. Brooks Robinson, who was named to The Sporting News' A. L. all-star fielding team for the 13th consecutive time in 1972, received his Gold Glove Award before the game.

The ceremony was switched from Baltimore to Texas so that the star's home-state friends from Arkansas could be present. Robinson drove in one of the Orioles' runs with a single in the second inning and scored after drawing a walk in the fourth. [The Sporting News]
