After surviving trouble in the first inning, Steve Renko pitched the Expos to a 6-3 victory over the Dodgers, who were stopped on their seven-game winning streak. Davey Lopes, Dodgers' rookie second baseman, committed three errors in the first inning, tying the major league record for his position, to allow the Expos to score an unearned run.

The Dodgers came back with three runs in their half on a single by Lopes, pass to Joe Ferguson and singles by Willie Crawford and Ron Cey. Bob Bailey homered for the Expos in the fourth and, after a double by Ron Fairly, Ken Singleton also hit for the circuit in the fifth.
