Clay Kirby turned in his first complete game since last August 5 and posted a 3-0 victory over the Mets, who were shut out by the Padres for the second night in succession. Kirby's triumph was his first since opening day and the start was his first since May 2. The Padres' scoring included Ivan Murrell's first major league homer since August 22, 1971.
