Charlie Williams, who was obtained from the Mets in the Willie Mays deal, gained his first victory in a San Francisco uniform when the Giants outslugged the Phillies, 11-7. Williams pitched only one inning in relief of Juan Marichal before going out for a pinch-hitter in the seventh when the Giants scored three runs to go ahead, 8-7. Bobby Bonds homered in the eighth when the Giants wrapped up the decision with three more runs. Greg Luzinski drove in four runs for the Phillies with a homer and single. [The Sporting News]
