Tim McCarver, who won the previous night's game with a grand-slam homer, did it again with a run-scoring single in the 10th inning to give the Cardinals a 2-1 victory over the Astros. Lou Brock singled to start and when Ted Sizemore bunted, both runners were safe and advanced an extra base on an error by Tommy Helms, who muffed Jim Crawford's throw to first. Following an intentional pass to Joe Torre, Ted Simmons forced Brock at the plate, but McCarver followed with his single to break up the game.
