Wilbur Wood suffered his second straight loss since winning two games in one night May 28, when the Orioles knocked out the knuckleball ace in the eighth inning and defeated the White Sox, 7-4. Dick Allen and Eddie Leon homered for the White Sox, while Boog Powell had a three-run blow for the Orioles, before the Pale Hose took a 4-3 lead in the seventh when Bill Sharp singled, stole second and Ed Herrmann singled.

In the eighth, the Orioles loaded the bases on a single by Powell, walk to Rich Coggins and infield hit by Bobby Grich. Tommy Davis singled, driving in two runs. Grich, reaching third, stole home on a double theft with Davis. Don Baylor then singled to score Davis. [The Sporting News]
