Steve Kline, who had been incapacitated by a stiff elbow, gained his first victory since May 16 when the Yankees defeated the Rangers, 5-2. However, Kline was lifted after yielding two leadoff singles in the eighth inning and Sparky Lyle came in to record his 11th save.
