. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Defeated in his last two starts, Wilbur Wood returned to winning form and pitched the White Sox to a 5-2 victory over the Indians, who succumbed to the veteran knuckleballer for the eighth straight time since August 12, 1971. The White Sox staked Wood to a 3-0 lead in the second inning and added their other tallies when Pat Kelly doubled and Dick Allen homered in the fifth. The Indians scored on circuit clouts by Charlie Spikes and George Hendrick. [The Sporting News]
