A two-run homer by Rick Monday in the seventh inning brought the Cubs a 6-5 victory over the Reds. Pat Bourque also hit a two-run homer for the Cubs, connecting in the first inning. Tony Perez smashed two round-trippers for the Reds, his second blow with a man on base, producing a 5-3 lead in the fifth.
