The Dodgers jumped on Tom Seaver for four runs in the sixth inning and defeated the Mets, 5-3. Davey Lopes, whose throwing error enabled the Mets to score two unearned runs in the first inning, opened with a triple and, after one out, Willie Davis smashed a homer to put the Dodgers ahead, 3-2.

Singles by Joe Ferguson and Ron Cey, around a walk to Willie Crawford, loaded the bases. After Von Joshua forced Ferguson at the plate, Bill Russell lined a two-run single for the Dodgers' winning margin. John Milner homered for the Mets in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
