. . . where the 1970s live forever!
A walk with the bases loaded and a two-run single by Roger Metzger in the seventh innning enabled the Astros to defeat the Pirates, 4-3. The Astros picked up their initial run in the second when Bob Watson and Lee May singled and Johnny Edwards hit a sacrifice fly.

In the seventh, Edwards and Tommy Helms singled and Jimmy Stewart was hit by a pitch. Jim Wynn walked to force in a run and Metzger followed with his decisive single. Willie Stargell drove in the Pirates' runs with a homer and double, but the slugger was thrown out by Wynn trying to score from second base on a single by Manny Sanguillen in the eighth inning.
