Ron Reed, who put the Braves ahead with a two-run double in the second inning, gained a 5-3 victory over the Cardinals. Ralph Garr, who had three hits, also batted in two runs for the Braves. Joe Torre homered for the Cardinals in the eighth and the Braves then brought out Danny Frisella to pitch the ninth in relief of Reed. [The Sporting News]
