. . . where the 1970s live forever!
The Indians snapped a 10-game losing streak with a 6-5 victory in the nightcap of a doubleheader after losing the opener to the White Sox, 5-3. Both games were decided in the ninth inning. In the lidlifter, after Johnny Jeter and Eddie Leon hit singles, Rick Reichardt came up as a pinch-hitter for the White Sox with two out and smashed the winning homer. Earlier in the game, Bill Sharp hit his first major league homer for the White Sox, while George Hendrick whacked one for the Indians.

In the second game, the Indians ended their losing streak when Buddy Bell beat out an infield hit in the ninth. Jack Brohamer walked, Hendrick sacrificed and John Ellis hit the first pitch by reliever Terry Forster for a single to drive in the winning run. [The Sporting News]
