. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Rick Monday, Pat Bourque and Ron Santo hit homers for the Cubs in the first inning and Monday connected for the circuit again on his next trip to the plate in the second to mark a 9-7 victory over the Reds. Monday led off with his first homer and, after Billy Williams doubled, Bourque and Santo rapped their round-trippers in succession.

In the second, Burt Hooton singled before Monday hit his second homer. Glenn Beckert doubled and subsequently scored on a sacrifice fly by Bourque. Don Kessinger then provided the Cubs with their winning margin, driving in runs in the third and fifth innings. The Reds' attack included homers by Joe Morgan and Johnny Bench. [The Sporting News]
