Completing a sweep of the three-game series, the Expos defeated the Giants, 7-6, to reach the .500 level with a 25-25 record, marking the first time in its five year history that the expansion club could boast such a showing this late in a season. Mike Jorgensen drove in three of the Expos' first five runs with a homer and a bases-loaded single. Bobby Bonds batted in two runs for the Giants with a single in the second inning and Willie McCovey homered in the third. Bonds hit a sacrifice fly when the Giants tied the score at 5-5 in the seventh.

The Expos broke away in the eighth. Bob Bailey and Tim Foli singled. Ron Woods walked to load the bases and Boots Day snapped the tie with a two-run single. As a result, the Expos were able to shrug off a homer by Dave Rader for the Giants in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
