Two-run homers by Walt Williams and John Ellis, together with a run-scoring triple by Buddy Bell, enabled the Indians to defeat the Rangers, 5-4. Dave Nelson led off the game with a homer for the Rangers, but the Indians went ahead with three runs in the third. Bell's triple drove in Leo Cardenas, who was safe on an error, and Williams followed with his homer. The Rangers regained the lead with three runs in the sixth, but in the Indians' half George Hendrick singled and Ellis hit his homer to decide the game. [The Sporting News] |
