Mike Jorgensen hit a three-run homer in the first inning and the Expos pulled a triple play in the seventh to defeat the Padres, 3-2. Jorgensen's homer followed two-out walks to Ron Fairly and Ken Singleton. In the seventh, Dwain Anderson singled for the Padres, Gene Locklear walked and Enzo Hernandez singled to load the bases.

With a count of two balls on Jerry Morales, Mike Marshall replaced Balor Moore. On Marshall's first pitch, Morales hit sharply to Ron Hunt, who threw to Tim Foli, forcing Hernandez. Foli's relay to Jorgensen retired Morales. Anderson scored, but when Locklear also tried to score from second base on the play, he was thrown out at the plate, Jorgensen to John Boccabella, to complete the triple play. [The Sporting News]
