The streaking Expos broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the seventh inning and defeated the Padres, 5-3, for their sixth straight victory and 11th in the last 15 games. After the Padres picked up an unearned run in the first, the Expos scored three times in their half on a double by Ron Hunt, single by Boots Day, triple by Ken Singleton and single by John Boccabella.

The Padres bunched three of their six hits off Steve Renko to tie the score in the sixth, but the Expos then broke away in the seventh. Ron Fairly singled, Singleton walked and Mike Jorgensen singled, scoring Fairly and sending Singleton to third. Boccabella followed with a sacrifice fly. [The Sporting News]
