Paul Blair batted in the Orioles' first three runs with a homer and single to lead the way to a 6-3 victory over the Red Sox. Blair's homer followed a pass to Rich Coggins in the first inning and his single in the third scored Al Bumbry, who had walked and advanced on a sacrifice.

The Orioles added two runs in the fourth on a walk to Don Baylor, double by Bobby Grich, single by Brooks Robinson and safe bunt by Mark Belanger. Grich tripled and Robinson hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth. Bob Montgomery drove in the Red Sox runs with a double and homer. [The Sporting News]
