Bert Blyleven was the winner in a duel with Clyde Wright when the Twins scored in the ninth inning to defeat the Angels, 1-0. The shutout was Blyleven's second straight and fifth of the season, all coming in his last seven starts. Wright, who also had pitched a shutout in his last previous outing, gave up a single by Bobby Darwin with one out in the ninth. On a strikeout pitch to Steve Brye, Darwin stole second.
