George Hendrick hit his fifth homer in three games and 10th in 14 games to join with Buddy Bell and John Ellis in slugging the Indians to a 9-1 victory over the Brewers. Bell batted in three runs with a homer, double and two singles, his circuit clout coming on Jerry Bell's first pitch of the game.

The Indians sent 14 men to bat in the third inning and scored six runs. After Oscar Gamble walked, Hendrick and Ellis homered in succession. Charlie Spikes was hit by a pitch, Dave Duncan doubled and Chris Chambliss walked to load the bases. Spikes scored on a passed ball.
